Packaged archive

The installer is one ASAR archive. That build checks the archive before it runs, and a modified copy is refused. The check applies to the installer, not to a development launch.

AES-256 local encryption

License records, Guardian settings, household rules, and the saved threat-feed list are sealed on this device with AES-256-GCM. The key is wrapped by Windows safe storage or the macOS keychain.

Hardware-bound license

A confirmed subscription is sealed to this machine. Copying the program onto another computer does not carry a working paid unlock.

Local telemetry

The shield log and scan buffers stay in memory on this device. Scanned text is not written to the drive. When the session ends, those buffers are wiped.

Air-gapped defence

Host blocks and the household filter run locally. They continue when the network is cut. A paid term that cannot be confirmed stays closed once the sealed record expires.

Debugger lockdown

If a debugger is attached, Vortex9 closes paid features and disengages the shield.

Security Policy

Vortex9 is owned and operated by Mampi Technologies Ltd, registered in England and Wales. Company No. 17484970. This policy covers the desktop app only. It is separate from the mystic9.net sanctuary terms.

Encryption at rest

Local records use AES-256-GCM. That includes the subscription cache, Guardian settings, household keywords and blocked sites, and the saved threat-feed host list. The encryption key is wrapped by the operating system and is not sent to mystic9.net. If a record cannot be decrypted, the app does not treat it as valid.

Packaged binary

The Windows and macOS installers pack the app into an ASAR archive and enable Electron’s archive integrity check. A changed archive does not load. The check applies to that packaged build. A development launch from source is not the fused installer.

The window

The interface runs in a sandboxed page with context isolation. It cannot open a shell, start a new window, or follow an outside address on its own. Shield actions stay in the main process.

Transport

The app speaks to mystic9.net only over HTTPS. Those connections require TLS 1.2 or TLS 1.3 and a certificate the device trusts. A plain HTTP address is refused, and a license redirect is refused.

Guardian Protocol Terms

Guardian Protocol is a household filter inside the paid Vortex9 shield, owned and operated by Mampi Technologies Ltd, registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17484970). These terms are separate from the mystic9.net sanctuary terms.

Who controls it

The operator creates a passphrase on the device. That passphrase is stored only as a slow hash, and it is not sent to mystic9.net. Changing the watch switch or opening household rules requires that passphrase, or device sign-in where the Mac provides it. Five wrong attempts pause confirmation for 15 minutes. A confirmation token works once and expires after two minutes.

What it checks

Three lists run in one local check. The baseline list is built into the app and cannot be edited: adult-content indicators, tracking hosts, and predatory-host blocks. An optional threat feed adds host names the operator chooses to download. Household keywords and blocked sites are added by the operator and stored encrypted on the device.

What it does not do

Guardian does not decrypt secure web traffic and does not keep a browsing log. A blocked address is refused as a tunnel. Pasted text, and the clipboard only when the operator turns watch on, is checked on the device. A match adds a category count. The text itself is not stored.

The household

The filter is a tool for the adult who runs the device. It does not replace supervision. The free shield leaves Guardian locked.

What stays on the device

Scans, block decisions, household rules, and the operator passphrase stay on the device. Scanned text is not written to disk and is not uploaded. Blocked addresses are not written into a history.

What is sent

Activation sends the account email, and a receipt reference only if you type one, to mystic9.net so the app can see whether a Vortex9 subscription is active. The optional threat feed, once switched on, downloads a host list. That download does not include scanned text, household rules, or browsing history.

If the network is down

A paid result is kept only after the server confirms an active monthly, annual, or business term that has not expired. If the server cannot be reached, the app uses that last sealed record for a limited time, or it stays on the free shield.
